Director's Notes

Confessions of a Bloodaholic was not only a humorous way of criticizing Hollywood's new mania of creating films and TV shows based on vampires, but also a way of showing how a lot of members in our society try to be something they are not. The film plays a lot with sarcasm, bringing a lot of the jokes to entertain the public and make references to the shaped images that modern media have brought to vampires.

While the story seems very straightforward, we wanted to create a story that would bring laughter to the viewer and make them reflect on their actions and how they shaped our society. Also, Bram refers to people's social exclusion nowadays and how everything can be performed through the Internet, extinguishing the social interaction we had with people before the dominant members of the virtual world emerged, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Also, in order to construct our visual rhetoric, we set up the camera that was filming Dr. Calkins to have a brighter tone, while Bram's tone would be darker. This shows the simplicity of the film and the story, and the contrast between good and bad presented by the characters, giving a touch o noir style.
